Easter and the week immediately after were pretty nice in Southern Norway. We’ve had lots of sun and warm weather and we spent a lot of time out on our deck enjoying the sun. Lately though, it has been very cold, as Arctic air has been coming into Norway and May is turning out to be unusually cold. The weather is just so bizarre these days and we just can’t believe the view that we we woke up to a few days ago, on May 9th :
Just so you know, this is very unusual for Norway! Sure, during this time of the year there can still be ice on the lake, which will usually be gone by the middle of May – but this much snow is insane! And a bit depressing too. Well, it looks like the weather will be improving in the days to come and hopefully we can get back to spring soon!
The cold and depressing weather hasn’t been all that bad for us, though. We have been able to sit in our studio, work and finish up the design work that we have been doing for Spring/Summer 2020. It’s always such a relief, when we finish a big project and can send off all the designs. And that is when all the work really starts. In the next few weeks and months, we will be working with the technical team, pattern writers and knitters and we will be answering a lot of questions and eventually we will start seeing ready made samples, do fittings and just make sure that all our designs end up looking the way we want the to look. We’d say that from the time we get a commission to design a collection and until the time the collection launches into the market, it takes between 9 – 12 months. And now that spring 2020 is out of the way, we can start working on Autumn / Winter 2020 – and that’s even before the summer of 2019 is officially here! When we work with books, it takes even longer – it takes about 2 years from our original ideas are pitched to the publisher until the book is ready printed and in our hands. No wonder we are always confused about the date or year, considering we live so far ahead in the future! We will write more about the design process in future blog posts, so make sure to come here weekly, to get the whole story.
Now, let’s talk about the next few weeks:
This week, we bring you yet another sock episode and show you how to do a closed toe cast on, so that you never again need to sew the hole of the toe, when you knit a toe-up sock! It’s actually very easy and makes a lot of sense, once you see how it is done. So we are sure a lot of people will be casting on socks this week! You can check out the episode here:

And Yes! There will be a pattern which will be available in our new shop!!
We wish you a great week ahead!
Enjoy!
