Step by Step

Late summer brings a different kind of stillness to the valley. The greenhouse is full and heavy with tomatoes, the nights have begun to cool, and the forest trails smell of damp moss and pine resin again. The strawberries are gone. The birds are quieter now. There’s a quiet shift in everything — not quite autumn, but not quite summer either.
It’s a good time to begin again.
This year hasn’t been easy for us. There were moments when we needed to step away, to hold close what mattered most, and to let go of anything that didn’t. We’ve spent time with family, tended to things that don’t make it into videos or blog posts, and listened to what silence had to say.
But in the quiet, we’ve been reminded again of how strong and generous this community is — and how lucky we are to be part of it. We were here for each other through the pandemic, and now, after everything, it feels good to return — slowly, gently — to this space we’ve built together.

Sit and Knit for a Bit

We’ve just begun recording new episodes of our podcast Sit and Knit for a Bit, and it feels like coming home.

Earlier this year, we reduced the podcast to just one episode a month so we could be more present with Carlos’ parents. That time was deeply important — and we’re grateful we made space for it. Now, we’re beginning to work our way back toward two episodes a month.

It won’t happen overnight, but the rhythm is returning.

If you’ve listened before, we’re so glad to sit down with you again. If you’re new to the podcast: just bring your knitting and make a cup of something warm. We’ll be right here.

A Quiet Return to the Studio

July was a pause. After the loss of Carlos’ mother, we let the needles rest for a bit. But now, we’re gently returning to the work we love — including our video tutorials, which have long been one of the most steady parts of our creative life.

We’ve filmed new content, shared a few favourites, and resumed our every-other-week rhythm on YouTube. It feels grounding to be back in that flow — not rushing, but continuing. Just as we are.

Virgo Problems (and Pyjama Gardening)

Not everything we do is polished — in fact, most things aren’t. That includes our approach to travel.

We recently shared a behind-the-scenes video showing how we pack. Or… how we try to pack. One of us is a Virgo. The other is not. The result? Chaos. Lists. Linen shirts. Last-minute repacking. And a camera rolling through most of it.

The response from you was worth every out-of-place sock.

And yes — for those who’ve asked — The Pyjama Gardeners are still very much alive and well. The weeds don’t care what we’re wearing, and neither do we.

Out at Sea, and What’s Next

We’ve just returned from a summer knitting cruise — and once again, we were reminded why this community is unlike any other.

Evenings on deck with yarn in hand, stories shared over coffee, laughter drifting down the corridor… there’s something about being surrounded by knitters that makes the world feel a little smaller, and a lot warmer.

This autumn, we’re launching something new: live online retreats and Zoom classes. We’re still finalising the structure, but we’re excited. These will be moments to connect in real time — to knit together, ask questions, learn something new, and simply be present with one another, wherever you are in the world.

We’ll share more soon. But it feels like a lovely next step.
