How to knit a Christmas stocking by ARNE & CARLOS

Hello Everyone!

We are celebrating 1 year anniversary for our YouTube channel right now!! Our first video, posted on December 2, 2015 was all about our Christmas Balls. After reading the comments on that first video, we decided to do a tutorial and publish the pattern for the Christmas Stocking that many of you noticed was hanging in the background. So, here it is, the Christmas Stocking from last year – or almost, as Arne says in the video. Because we did make a few changes to our original design.See the tutorial here:

 

 

PATTERN FOR CHRISTMAS STOCKING:

Yarn: Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120 DK. 50g = 120m // 1.75oz = 131yds.

Buy the yarn here.

Gauge 22 stitches = 10cm // 30 rounds = 10cm

You will need 50 grams (1 ball) of each of the following colors:

Color 1:  Cherry (Red) 00131

Color 2: Forest (green) 00172

Color 3:  white 00101

Needles: Sets of 5 dpns in U.S. size 2 and 4 (3 and 3.5mm)

 

Instructions:

With dpn U.S size 2 (3 mm) and color 1, CO 80 sts, divide sts over 4 dpn, 20 sts on each needle.

Join, being careful not to twist cast.on row.

Work around in k2, p2 ribbing 9 rnds.

Change to dpn U.S size 4 (3.5 mm) and knit from chart 1 as follows:

Now it is time to knit the Heel (we’ve posted the short heel video tutorial in the end of this post).

 

Knit the heel in green, knit back and forth over 2 needles like this:

Ndl 1: K19, turn.

Ndl 2: Sl1, p37 turn.

Ndl 3: Sl1, k36 turn.

Ndl 4: Sl1, p35 turn.

Ndl 5: Sl1, k34 turn.

Ndl 6: Sl1, p33 turn.

Ndl 7: Sl1, k32 turn.

Ndl 8: Sl1, p31 turn.

Ndl 9: Sl1, k30 turn.

Ndl 10: Sl1, p29 turn.

Ndl 11: Sl1, k28 turn.

Ndl 12: Sl1, p27 turn.

Ndl 13: Sl1, k26 turn.

Ndl 14: Sl1, p25 turn.

Ndl 15: Sl1, k24 turn.

Ndl 16: Sl1, p23 turn.

Ndl 17: Sl1, k22 turn.

Ndl 18: Sl1, p21 turn.

Ndl 19: Sl1, k20 turn.

Ndl 20: Sl1, p19 turn.

Ndl 21: Sl1, k18 turn.

Ndl 22: Sl1, p17 turn.

Ndl 23: Sl1, k16 turn.

Ndl 31: Sl1, k16, k2tog, m1 knitwise in leg on sts under the last sts of the 2tog, turn.

Ndl 32: Sl1, p17, p2tog, m1 purlwise in leg on sts under the last sts of the 2tog, turn.

Cut yarn and draw through rem 16sts-

Weave in all ends neatly on WS.

Steam stocking, but not the rib.

Make a crochet loop at the rib = chain 25..
