How to crochet a pot holder. Part 1

POT HOLDER PATTERN FOR THE BASE

Materials:

Yarn: SCHACHENMAYR CATANIA 100% cotton (Sport weight, Gauge: 6.5 sts = 1″ on US 2-4, Weight/Yardage: 50g/137yds)

Buy the yarn here.

We used colour 00173 for the base and colours  00146 and 00201 for the design on top.

Crochet hook: 3mm. US size D/3.

This week we will do the base and next week we will deal with the design on top.

Start crocheting the base like this:

Rnd 1: ch 59. Turn the work and crochet back:

Rnd 2: 1tr into the 10th ch from the hook.  NB! Not incl. the ch on the hook ! * ch3, 1tr in the 4th ch from the last tr * : rep * – * out rnd.  End with 1tr in the first ch. Turn the work and crochet back:

Rnd 3: ch 7 * 1tr, in top of tr under, ch3 *  Rep * – * out rnd. End with 1tr in the 4th ch on the first ch 7 in the end. Turn the work and crochet back:

 Repeat rnd 3 until you get a total of 13 lines with squares. End the 13th line with End with 1tr in the 4th ch on the first ch 7 in the end. Cut the yarn and pull the thread trough the last stitch.
