Sit and Knit for a Bit – Christmas Countdown. December 24. Little Elves.

Thanks for joining our 2020 Christmas Ball Advent Calendar. We are so happy that you are here!

We post a video and reveal a new knitted Christmas ball every day until December 24th, 2020.

December 24. Little Elves

Four little elves,  make up the four different sides Christmas Balls. One brings a candle, one brings a Kransekake (traditional Norwegian almond “ring” cake), one is bringing the porridge and the last one is carrying the Christmas gifts.

See the video below and enjoy today’s photo. If you don’t have the advent calendar but would like to join in all the fun, click here or click on the image below.

A chance to win an exclusive prize!

Take photos of the Christmas balls that you knit from our 2020 Advent Calendar, post them on Instagram and hashtag them with #arnecarlos and #sitandknitforabit. By doing that, you will be eligible to win a fabulous prize consisting of an exclusive ARNE & CARLOS project bag, one of our books personally dedicated and signed by us as well as a bunch of Prym Ergonomic Needles and hooks! We will select 2 lucky winners and announce them in early January. Good Luck!

Contest Information:

1. Tag your images on Instagram with #sitandknitforabit and #arnecarlos, and we will select two winners. Both tags must be used per image to enter the competition.

2. Only images of the Christmas Balls from the 2020 Advent Calendar will be considered. Images of other Christmas Ball designs, including balls from our book “55 Christmas Balls to Knit”, the mini-balls from our webshop or self-designed balls will not be considered.

3. As long as you are knitting the balls from the 2020 Advent Calendar, you may use any other colours than the ones we have used. Just be as creative as you like in your colour choices!

4. The photos must be posted and tagged on December 1st and until December 31st, 2020. Images posted before or after these dates will not be accepted.

5. The more images you post and tag during the above-mentioned dates, the more entries you have, the better the chances are to win!

6. The winners will not be selected randomly. Instead, we will select our two favourite photos based on the quality of the image and the creativity of the setting and staging.

7. We will ship the prize anywhere in the world, so everyone is eligible to enter this contest.

8. The two lucky winners will be announced at the beginning of January 2021. The prizes will ship sometime in the middle or end of January 2021.

    Dear Arne and Carlos,

I was so happy that you finished your folk costumes so we could see you model them on Christmas Eve. You have both worked so hard, and the result is stunning. I feel that I have learned so much this year about your culture. My husband says you are both so talented and creative, and he is right. My very favorite video of yours this year was filmed at the Viking Museum at Lofoten and, Arne, you were so excited to be the chief. And, Carlos, you were such a good sport about it all. I’m working hard on learning the Norwegian Purl. Also, I am enjoying colorwork now thanks to the Quarantine Patches. Looking forward to a new year. Thank you both again….

I surprised myself when I managed to knit all the advent balls. It was a lot of knitting but great fun. I have enjoyed the stories behind the designs so many thanks for the daily podcasts and the great designs. Your traditional clothes are lovely! Another job well done. Thanks again.

My two most favourite podcasts are Arne making ginger bread and Carlos making birdseed balls. They both made me laugh and really cheered up my day.

Arne and Carlos: I looked and listened to the December 24 episode of the Christmas Countdown as if I was listening to a beautiful Christmas tale. Your folk costumes are splendid outfits and I could not have anticipated how beautiful they are. They certainly added a touch of magic to last Christmas eve. I plan to listen a second time to the 24 Christmas Countdown episodes. Those podcasts are a gateway to learn more about norvegian traditions and popular culture. I wish both of you health, happiness and new projects and travels in 2021. Thank you for everything, Arne and Carlos. Gratitude.

Your cheerful and festive Christmas podcasts were the highlight of my day all through the month of December.
Thank you for telling us about your holiday traditions and showing us your elegant folk costumes. You both looked very smart and they suited you so well!
I knitted along using the patterns for the 24 mini Christmas balls as the others are a bit large for my small tree. It would be wonderful if you could design and sell more of those patterns for next Christmas.
Really looking forward to your 2021 podcasts.

    Thank you for your patterns.
    Thank you for your podcasts.
Thank you for your unfailingly positive attitude.
Thank you for your lessons on culture and history.
Thank you for helping me and it sounds like thousands of others make our way through this pandemic. Knitting has saved my sanity.
Looking forward to more fun in 2021.
PS Since I started knitting these little beauties, I’ve made 43!!!!!

Hi Arne and Carlos, I hope Carlos is better and Arne is well. I just want to thank you for the quarantine squares and the Christmas Advent balls you created for us. Because of these projects I have gained skills that I did not have before which gave me the confidence to make a knit, color work pillow with a complicated chart. I finished the 20″ pillow top in 4 days (which is very fast for me). It was from a Rowan home knit book and the pattern was “Enchanted Forest”. It turned out great. Thanks.

    Dear Arne and Carlos
I absolutely enjoy you guys immensely
    I have a question 😁
What are the chances you guys when showing your knitting and in your tutorials you could film from over you shoulders so we can have the perspective of that angel
For me it would make a world of difference 😍
Thanks so much for all you do
    Continued success and health
    Much Happiness
