Our new Christmas stocking JULEHOSO

JULEHOSO means Christmas Stocking in Arne’s dialect.

Knit this year’s Christmas stocking with traditional Fair Isle motive using a worsted weight yarn for a quick knit. We’ve written the pattern with a more rounded toe and heel so that it looks like a perfect sock when hung up!

Click on the image to purchase the pattern (Enjoy a 25% discount until Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00 pm CEST) and check out the video below!

Also, there is still enough time to get KNIT STARS – sales close on Thursday, October 15th. Click here for more information.

    Hi Arne and Carlos,

I am just curious if I could use circular needles for the 2020 Christmas sock. The double points sometimes gives me fits when the yarn falls off.

Thanks for your help. Love the YouTube videos!!!

      Nancy,

I’m having a total senior moment over this: tell me how you’re starting off your sock on circulars. I’m way too uncoordinated for DPNs. Maybe I don’t have a short enough cable to do it?

The picture for the pattern shows a knitted ball, but there are no instructions in the pattern for that ball.

I love the brighter shade of green you chose for this stocking, rather than the typical medium green. Your green makes the red pop! I also love the selbu rose in two colors. Thank you!

I so enjoy your site. I started to Astrid blanket and couldn’t understand the pattern for attaching the flowers. Will you still be sharing a video to show the process? I check with every new weeks email.

What a lovely stocking! Thank you for offering this pattern. I love the name — so interesting how close it is to so many other languages Jule/Yule… Hoso/hose.

A hand-knit Christmas stocking is my signature gift for every new baby and new family member by marriage. So happy to add this to my pattern collection!

I wanted to add… for babies, the stocking is given at birth, regardless of the season. For new-by-marriage family additions, I give the stocking as a Christmas gift.

I ordered the pattern and I hope I can use the DPN’s to make this beautiful Christmas Stocking. I normally knit in the round with circular needles so this will be a challenge for me but excited to try it out. Thanks for the awesome pattern.

    Morning Arne and Carlos

I love your Christmas Sock. You made me laugh, because, when I knit socks I always get holes on one side of the heel. I drives me nuts. I have just watch your podcast re: what to do when you get holes, I shall do that next time.
    Thank you and keep safe

Where did you get those darling bear figurines from?

How does this Stocking actually hang from the Mantle? Do I attached a really strong I-Cord to it? LOL.

So many important questions, so little time……LOL

Argh… if I could have deleted that question above I would have!! It all made sense as I was knitting the leg about 2 hours after I’d posted that. I wasn’t taking into consideration that there are 36 stitches above AND below the waste yarn as I was thinking about it! (I hate being so dense sometimes!!!)

    Hi,
    Love your videos.
I am wondering if I place an order for a knitting pattern, (ie. 2020xmas sock) is it sent to me digitally via email or does it come by snail mail?

    Dear Arne & Carlos:

I DID IT! I finished my 2020 Christmas stocking tonight! I just knit it with color-changing yarn so I could get the feel of constructing it. Next time I’ll try it with the patterns. I’ll watch the videos on catching the floats to make sure I’m doing it correctly.

Thank you so much for your videos and patterns!!

    Dear Arne and Carlos
Thankyou so much for all the things that you do.
The videos have kept me going especially over the lockdown periods. The tutorials and patterns have not only been interesting they have taught me how to do so many different things.
You are both not just talented artists you are great teachers and entertainers.
I would like to enter you into the worlds longest knit along if everyone measured their knitted blocks and their other work made with your help I’m sure we would have enough to travel around the world also if we carried on with the knit along after the 41 weeks it could be the longest knit along ever.
Just an idea , but would be great if you could.
Then we’d have even more episodes !!!
Love your stories and all the things about Norway.
Looking forward to sharing Christmas episodes it can become a tradition for many parts of the world.
Well keep up the good work and please don’t change your great the way you are .
Just love you guys and thankyou for sharing with everyone.
Take care and look after yourselves.

    Hello!

I knot my stocking, and was just about to start the ribbing, when a well intentioned friend said that I have to add the recipient child’s name on the top.

Any suggestions? I am thinking of adding a stripe of white stockinette and using duplicate stitch with green or red below the ribbing. Other ideas? Suggestions for smaller letters, or what to put on the back side?
