Greetings from our kitchen table – because our work space has now been converted into a temporary studio where we record our daily Quarantine Knitting Podcasts…
We hope things are OK for you and that you are staying safe! We’ve had an uneventful weekend at home, just resting, relaxing, reading books and going out for walks in the forest nearby. The good thing about being quarantined in a house in the countryside is that there are no people here, so we can still leave our home and go for walks, since we never meet anyone. The only other people we have seen this past week are our friends Ausra and Audrius, who go shopping and bring us food. We speak to them through the kitchen window and they leave our groceries outside our door. On Friday, they brought us some tulips, to brighten our moods. It’s those little things that make such a huge difference in hard times like these, don’t you agree? We were so happy to get some flowers!
As many of you know, we have extended our YouTube channel to include a daily Quarantine Knitting Podcast from Monday through Friday. This is helping us get through our days under lock down and we see that we are also helping lots of people feel less lonely and pass the time, which is a great thing! A win-win situation for all of us and since we are doing something that has, in a very short period of time, becomee very meaningful to us, it’s making it easier for us to get out of bed! But, this new activity of our’s has not been without any hick-ups… We’ve experienced several technical malfunctions (episodes 2 and 4) as well as there being tons of issues with the Mystery KAL that we are running parallel to the daily podcasts (mainly issues with people not being able to print the charts). These technical issues have been taking our attention from a lot of other things that we should have been doing, and hopefully now that things have been resolved and cooled down a bit, we should be able to focus more other things.
So, one thing that we saw yesterday on our Facebook Group page was that a lot of people are asking for tutorials on double knitting and we suddenly remembered that we actually did a tutorial on that technique in 2016, which shows how to do double knitting for both continental knitters and throwers. So, let’s revisit this episode and see if this can help you out! Now remember, we are saying that the block/patches can be knitted insingle knitting (back and forth) or double knitting and there is no pressure to do them in double knitting if you don’t want to or feel this is way out of your comfort zone. Anyway, here is the episode:

We do believe that by the end of this crisis, people who have been following our podcasts and doing our Mystery KAL will have improved their colour work and double knitting skills dramatically! Talk about a silver lining!!
This Sunday on our channel, it’s business as usual, just as every other Sunday, as we will continue to post our regular episodes, which were filmed before Corona came to Europe, together with Erik (our camera guy) in the same room as us (he is currently under quarantine in Oslo)! Today, we take look at the new Crochet Primrose Throw that Arne made for the dollhouse! Se the video here:
