The ARNE & CARLOS Daily Quarantine Knitting Podcast Postponed until after Easter.

We are sorry to announce that Carlos has come down with a really bad cold, which unfortunately forces us to stop the Daily Quarantine Knitting Podcasts for a while, in order to let him rest and recover. We plan on returning with our daily podcasts as soon as possible after Easter.

Please do not worry about the situation. Carlos has been examined by his doctor and all he needs is a few days of rest and relaxation. He will be fine!

In the meantime, we will continue with the KAL as usual and will keep on releasing new charts for new blocks according to the original schedule, releasing two more charts this week (today and tomorrow) and 3 more charts next week. You’ll find this week’s clues here.

We also launched two more patterns for a new cushion designed by us for Rowan to be knitted in SoftYak today and which you can purchase here.

2 more cushion patterns will launch this weekend, so keep your eyes peeled!

We can’t wait to get back into good health so that we may continue with the daily podcast!

Please accept our apologies for the disappointment this may cause.

I was worried about Carlos since the last episode he did not seem himself. I will miss you both. But maybe Arne you can make him some chicken soup with no chicken. And make him waffles. If I was there, I would make him porridge! I left you a little present on FB today. I love you both and hope Carlos feels better soon.

    • Amy M. Dohn on April 2, 2020 at 4:13 pm

Peace and returned health to you Carlos-and continued health to you Arne.
This is my first knit along even though I’ve been knitting for decades! I’m enjoying it way more than I thought I would. I love the excitement of a new pattern each day (and I’m completely enjoying your daily podcasts) and the challenge of finishing a patch each day-although now I have started a pair of socks so I’m knitting patches in the morning and my socks in the afternoon.

Thanks for who you are and what you give to the fiber community!

    • Sandi Michaels on April 2, 2020 at 4:17 pm

Carlos please take care of yourself. Arne you do the same. Get well soon. Sending you virtual hugs. Will miss you both.

    • Susanne K. Møller on April 2, 2020 at 4:19 pm

So sorry to hear that !!!
Good that you have seen a doctor, Carlos.
As Cathy says, you seemed a bit pale and your smile was not quite as wide as it usually is.
I hope Arne is now so well that he can look after you.
Keep my fingers crossed for you both !!!!!

    • Deborah Pogue on April 2, 2020 at 4:22 pm

I thought Carlos didn’t seem himself the other day. So relieved to know that he doesn’t have that blasted Virus! You two have been on the go since you got home, even if you were quarantined! Rest well Carlos. We will miss you both and BTW wishing you both a blessed and happy Easter holiday!

    • Janette Box on April 2, 2020 at 4:25 pm

So sorry to hear that Carlos is unwell. Will miss you but you need to get well. I will look forward to your podcast at or after Easter. Hope you on the road to recovery soon Carlos, and get lots of R&R. 🙏🙏

    • Kelli Hayden on April 2, 2020 at 4:30 pm

We will definitely miss seeing you, but getting some rest is definitely important. My husband has been working in an ER for the past six weeks. He had yesterday and today off. I’m glad he gets to rest as well! I gave a go at designing my own patch last night. Let’s just say I’ve never progressed beyond third grade drawing abilities and my patch reflects that! But, I did my best and my moose turned out rather charming. I would send Arnie a picture, but he would probably laugh so hard he would start coughing! Take care ❤️

    • Barbara Rechtfertig on April 2, 2020 at 4:32 pm

Get some much needed rest, sleep, force fluids, and eat chicken soup with chicken. Mostly de-stress! Carlos is always taking care of everything and planning and worrying. Let it all go for a few days and relax. We’ll all be here when you are rested and well. We love you both and will miss you. I need to catch up anyway! Please take care.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Carlos John, Alice and I plan to enjoy some porridge tomorrow while thinking of you! We’ll raise our coffee mugs to toast Arne. From across the world people are sending you kind thoughts and well wishes.

NY is in bad shape. I was exposed to the corona virus on 3/9, but have remained healthy, working (more than ever) from home. I’ve been teaching online, and helping to organize and provide supplies and equipment for one of the front line hospitals in NY (Montefiore). When this slows down, I hope to have time to relax and knit. John and Alice have been giving it a go.

(you’ll see my executive program director, and associate dean in the skills and simulation lab I helped build- we only had one ventilator but one is better than none)

Arne and Carlos- I’ve enjoyed your videos, your talent and kind words. You two are an inspiration in this crazy world.

    • Pam Harris on April 2, 2020 at 5:12 pm

Rest rest rest, Carlos. Get well soon. I am glad you are taking time for self care and suspending the podcast until you are healed. As much as the podcast will be missed, this is the right decision.

    • Michele on April 2, 2020 at 5:15 pm

Wishing you a quick recovery Carlos. And just when you were about to go to the grocery! The most important thing to do is to take care of yourself – while I love seeing the two of you to brighten my day, your health is more important. I will replay some of the previous ones 🙂 Suspending the charts would have been OK, but as always, I am grateful for them. Take care of yourself Carlos and you too Arne!

    • Teresa on April 2, 2020 at 5:23 pm

Carlos, I’m hoping it is not the virus and that you will recover quickly. Sending positive energy your way. Looking forward to seeing you back on your podcasts. You both are so charming and quite comical at times that I find myself cracking up laughing…thank you so much for that, and for the inspiration you’ve given me to try a new way of knitting.

    Hello Arne&Carlos,
wanted to send you both some healing vibes for strength and vitality – what you are doing with the C19 KAL is tremendous emotional and mental healing of the world! Some of that good karma should come back to you! hugs! 😀

along with a simple comfort-food meal idea – one that I never tire from. Please don’t laugh when you hear what it is – and do give it a try. Grilled cheese sandwich with a sunny-side egg on top. Generally eaten with a knife and fork. After the yolk is broken, if done properly, it drips down onto the plate where you swirl some grilled cheese sandwich around in the egg to sop it up. Sometimes to be daring, I even put the sunny-side egg in the middle of the grilled cheese and (since the egg is covered by the bread) – you don’t know exactly where in the sandwich it is – so some forks of grilled cheese don’t break the yolk and it’s a great surprise when it finally does break. Just hope by then that you still have some bread left to sop it up. The egg gives the meal some extra protein, added to the vitamin D from the cheese and instant energy from the bread, vitamin A in the butter. Hope this helps! – going to make one right now – Carlos: get better soon! Arne: you’re a great caring caregiver – keep up the great work! hugs ! cathy

ps I have a fabulous idea to put your gorgeous C19 patterns to special use! thank you for making them available to us – Can’t wait to get started on it 😀

    Hi Arne & Carlos.

Sad to hear that Carlos have gotten ill, like everybody else I hope for a speedy and complete recovery.

Maybe it can cheer you a bit up to hear that I have learned a lot in this KAL. Normally I croche, but I wanted to try this out. I actually had to check your basis knitting video out as I have knitted so little since I learned it last year that I had forgotten both how to cast on and knit purl…
But after I finally got started on the patches (and got past hurdles, like trying to unravel just a bit and the nearly finished patch just disappears! SO not like crochet…) it turned out to be somewhat easy as you had said in the first podcast 🙂
My solution is just not to make mistakes so I don’t have to unravel 😀

I’m even considering getting on facebook so I can share more in the KAL experience and show my stuff off.

But anyway, my point is that I would never have knitted these patterns under normal circumstances, and this compact knitting is so different from my other work they seem kind of like magic :-*
    So thanks a lot A&C!
    Hugs from København

    • Patrizia on April 3, 2020 at 8:20 pm

    Dear Carlos, please recover soon!
I thank you both Arne & Carlos for your wonderful daily Quarantine Knitting Initiative. Really cool community and great knitting results of the followers.
I restarted knitting when I saw a knitted Christmas ball in a Ski hut in South Tyrol three years ago. I did some research and came across you. My first Christmas ball was born three month later during a summer holiday in Sweden. …and then I couldn’t stopp knitting. To be honest I love the foto where you sit in a kittchen full of Christmas balls. 😉
My living room slowly fills up with balls and I created own small patterns. For Easter I switched to egg hats for the whole family. Therefore I had not yet time to start with the Quarantine Knitting Charts but I will start. I enjoy your lovely and interesting videos – I have so much fun. Thanks again!!!
Warm regards and all the best to you both from Germany!

Hope this message finds Carlos feeling better and Arne’s cough gone as well. I discovered your podcast on my first day of our “Stay at Home” order here in Maryland USA. I introduced you to my twin sister in Michigan immediately. We are both knitters and are sharing the KAL together, along with everyone else. Watching your podcasts and tutorials has made a huge difference in my mood and ability to cope each and every day during this crisis. I have ordered your book on knitting Christmas balls and can’t wait for it to come! I am forever grateful for your kindness, very funny conversations, and genuine love for your viewers. Virtual hugs from Sally & Susie!

    • Gail Knife Chief on April 5, 2020 at 7:05 pm

You two are part of my daily sunshine. 😊😊 Your relaxed, down to earth personalities are contagious.

I discovered your quarantine podcast, episode 9, which has opened a door to world inspiration. I am behind in making your motifs; I just finished my 6th one. With no computer or printer, I am doing this old school. I am lucky to have graph paper, which has allowed me to copy your charts. I am challenging myself to knitting with both hands. I am right handed and knit English style. Tension has been an issue, but with practice I am improving. Arne, my left hand knitting method is semi-Norwegian. I pick with my second finger, not my first. I think by the end of COVID-19, my knitting skills and style in general, but especially for fair isle and multicolored knitting will have improved greatly, thanks to you two.

Bye the way, I plan on making your two delicious cabbage recipes when the family gets together again.

    • Christine Barnes on April 5, 2020 at 7:42 pm

    Hi Arne and Carlos
good to see that you are both well. I wish that I could get hold of some flour, I would make some waffles and join you. Things are slowly getting back to normal here in the UK thanks to the shops rationing what comes into the shops, I managed to get some eggs so that’s a start, I have homemade organic strawberry jam which I made myself last year, but I don’t have anything to put it on right now,. I am still printing the patterns for the squares and looking forward to knitting them as soon as I can get my wool spun.
    Take care of yourselves
    stay well/

Get well wishes sent your way Carlos. My hope and prayers are for your return to good health.
    Stay healthy wishes for Arne!

You are so highly thought of and such an inspiration. Because of you two, at 71 years old, I looked at a knitting chart for the first time and actually followed it and made a beautiful traditional patterned hat.
It’s lovely and I’m quite proud of my accomplishment. Is it perfect? No. But I know you celebrate my accomplishment the same as I.

Thanks for all you do and I’m happy to have “met” two such wonderful men.
    Be well.

    Warmest regards.

Sending virtual best wishes for a speedy recovery! These are scary times for sure right now. I have been watching your podcasts only for about a year or so and every one of them are so inspirational to me. I missed you in St Thomas Ontario during the ice storm! It’s nice to see people in their surroundings doing the things they love to do and encouraging others to explore handiwork too. I’m a late bloomer but always change things up so creativity makes me happiest. My favourite of your podcasts (haven’t seen them all yet) is episode with the outdoor critter house.

I’ve been worrying about Carlos since it was announced that he was ill… I am happy to hear that it is at least not Covid 19 and rather just a cold. It is easy in these stressful times to become worn down. The KAL podcasts have been wonderful but perhaps a smidge too much for you both. We love you both for everything and for showing your support to us through these difficult times by distracting us with all of your beautiful knitting as well as sharing your fabulous personalities with us on a more personal level than previously done. Get well soon Carlos and take good care of yourself, Arne, as well as Freja. Hugs and much love…🤗💖

I hope that Carlos is feeling better and getting his strength back. Take care and know that you are both missed. Thank you for all you do to keep others spirits up and I hope that our little notes brighten yours as well.

Sending love from an island in Northwestern Washington State.

Please, this is the time to “double down” on the healthy foods: veggies, fruits, legumes and whole grains. No sugar, and if possible no salt! They both interfere with the work of the body’s white cells in fighting infection.

    On sugar:

    On salt:

Carlos, get back to enjoying robust health – and Arne, stay healthy! You are precious.

Dear A&C, First, I wish you both good health & a speedy recovery for C. Although I have read about you in my Rowan magazines, I have only started watching this week. I haven’t made anything at all, but I really enjoy watching! And your area in Norway looks beautiful, but very, very cold. I am already working in my garden (can’t wait to see yours) but hope to start my “mystery project” soon & plan on catching up on as many videos as possible. You sound like wonderful people and I’m sure your project of lifting everyone’s spirits during this terrible pandemic is very successful. I love it. Take care.
PS. Chicken in “chicken soup” is actually very good. try it some time.

    Erne and Carlos,
I hope your both enjoyed a healthy Easter. Here in Fairbanks, Alaska we had a new snow fall. So much snow this winter!
Finally it has begun to warm 40F this morning and i can hear the snow melt and drip drip drip in the roof.
I look forward to your return to entertain us all once again.
    best eileen
